Why work when the water is high? Looks like we have a nice storm heading our way! Hard to say, but this could be one of our last big winter events. Gona watch flows and follow the storm. Give me a call if you are free to hit the high water.

Illinois would be nice, but I have to work next week since I cleared wed-sun for this storm. Everything is primed, I cant wait to see what happens on Wednesday and Thursday!   I really hope the Nasselle wave comes in, it only got over 4k once this season and I missed it.
Enjoy the storm!

I'm fixing to hit up some high water Sky TODAY.

10K and climbing- thats good enough for me. Convienient logistics and a short drive.

Anyway, I'm looking for someone interested in hitting the main Sky run or a trib upstream. Maybe Top Tye is in. Lots if heavy wet snow on the pass and boarderline temps. Who's in? Got my phone charged and Im going to keep it close today (its battered and fuct and I can't seem to get back to "civilization" to replace it). Try me today whoever wants to rock some skykomish goodness...

Well I'm back at our matheny 4G spot after another great day on the Olympic. We never made it to the mosh pit today, instead we ran the Queets from Sams river down to the Clearwater at 40k+. Even tho it was a class 2+/3 float it was way fun to be on a river that big.   There was some amazing catch on the fly surf!   The whole section is inside the park and we saw a heard of elk trapped on an island in the river, cool stuff. Its been a while since I have been on a river at 40k+ was a great feeling.
We are camping at Matheny again tonight and going to run it on Friday. Adam hope to see you !

Right on, man-- glad to see you tapped into the OP Stoke!!
My usage of this glorious abundance of water was also immensly satisfying today. I'll raise a glass in your honor- almost cocktail hour up here in Wild Sky Country

To my surprise, the Top Tye held its water for today, as well, so we went back. Pretty much the same flow, about 3" or slightly less on the sapling. This time it was sunny! If its in sunday I plan to boat it. Graph makes it look like it could be a similar flow.

Anyone interested in sunday Top Tye hit me up. I might even go tomorrow but I gotta meet at 10:30am (t.o.) got sunday off, though.

Haha, I like the name change. I guess it is the weekend now.
Just did Matheny top to bottom at a perfect riseing flow. Had a nice juicy level for the upper, but shark fin was still good to go. Then by the time we got go the lower it was rocking.
The shuttle road to the upper is in trouble, one of the last culverts that they "fixed" is about blow out. In fact it may wash out tonight, was a sketchy drive back over it after the run.
Camping up here again tonight for the high water on Sunday

Awesome. "Dispatches from Matheny". Peeps oughta have rallied out for the weekend for that one.

I'm gonna stay on the Top Tye/Sky end of things. Less driving, more boating, I like to say. So here's my deal: I currently live 10 min. From the Top Tye take out. In the a.m. I will drop down to the sapling and issue a sapling report. Maybe it'll be too high but then I'll just run the Sky.

Who's gonna rally up here and boat some high water goods tomorrow?

BTW, hopefully if the timing is right, Monday/Tuesday will begin the ICICLE PHASE of this spike. That's right. Opening Day of Icicle Season. Probably be perfect for "low side of good" flows on Ricochete. Not only that, but the title of this thread will revert back to its original namesake. Because the water continues to flow...

whoa!! 38,000 cfs on the Sky guage! now, that's some flooding!

Ok, the Top Tye is probably too high to boat. I will give a report when I drive by in an hour or so...

Looks like some Skykomish action today

I am supposed to work tomorrow, but maybe an after work fools canyon?

Its cool to see fresh video from your weekend since I couldn't be out there. Miss Matheny for sure... Maybe one of these winters I'll just move out to Forks.

I've just had one of the most enjoyable streaks of boating in the Sky drainage. 38,000 on the main sky on sunday, and a pretty healthy flow on the Foss today.

The Foss is basicly clean of wood, or at least it was today with the S. Frk Sky guage reading about 8' and dropping. Pretty darn high to include in the "medium" range, many might have called it "high". It seemed busier and more full on in some ways than the sky at 38,000. Interesting contrast.

Anyway, I have one more day to boat this week, and tomorrow is the last good day of water coming down from this last spike. I considered going to Icicle, because its been in for 3 days now. But Icicle season is just around the corner. Im now leaning toward keeping my Sky Theme going.

Tomorrow flows might be a little more "normal" for the Foss, Rapid, and Tye runs. Then again if it all drops out over night they might be too low. Actually, Top Tye should be in at the very least.

Anyone want to rally up to join us tomorrow afternoon? Probably meet up near Skykomish. Im going to be visually checking these creeks in the morning. Its an open invite- just contact me in the a.m. if you are coming.

Foss and Tye both have snowy hike ins right now. Tye is brief, Foss is lengthy (snow starts at the railroad trestle t.o.). I'm not sure about the Rapid, haven't been up Beckler Road, but it might be driveable. Of course, dragging boats up snow covered roads is pretty easy.

Gotta ride out this water one more day! Who's free?
