The one in Snohomish is pretty basic.

I had never seen one of these that allowed the use of a kayak. Their expert kayaker made it look hard. :-)

Well, this is a whitewater forum. Whitewater is an OUTDOOR RECREATION sport. Washington is the most reliable place in the U.S. to paddle quality whitewater year round. There's also that nifty invention from the 1970's called GoreTex. Add all that together and there really isn't a need to build any indoor facillities to engage in such an activity. Maybe in Nebraska or Kansas or somewhere.

Its pretty absurd and its an irresponsible use of resources while there are so many homeless people in America. You can counter that an entrepeneaur (not gonna slow down to spell check that one) who has the capital is free to do whatever the hell he or she wants. Ok, cool, I don't give a sh*t.

In fact, maybe its good to build such facillities to attract all the gapers like fly paper and keep those chumps off of our beloved rivers and creeks... They can crash their SUPS into each other in a climate controlled, liability waiver paradise while I stay out in the woods gettin down on the real goods, far from liability waivers where I can live out my definition of freedom.

Starting to change my mind maybe its a great idea.

Don't change your mind, JP - we need those that push to keep it real.  And by posting this, I'm not advocating for them.  Just found it interesting.  But I would assume ROI would be marginal at best.  But then there were those that claimed the same for indoor climbing gyms...

I'll tell ya what would make this place a super duper score is if they had a child care option like LA Fitness... You know I drop the kids off for 30-45 mins in day care on site, surf it up then go grab the kids and we go for a swim in the pool.

Man I would pay for that, and I would also be keen on hearing some on river services that might offer the same for real outdoor paddling.
