But I want to know all the rapid names. Anyone know the drops by heart? I know Island drop, but that's it.
JD? Darren? R.O.B.?

From my memory, there is only one rapid. Why don't you just call it all Island Drop? Island drop lead-in, Island drop, Island drop run-out.

Since I've hiked out at Island three times I know that section pretty well...

What is this dissing on Jefferson. Come on man…..it's one of the jewels of the OP. :)

I know a few names based on those who were running it before me, but as Chipper said, it's kind of the lead up to Island, and then the run-out.

Here you go….

Stuff above Island, there's one drop that has a sieve in the middle, with an awkward move in the center around it, we call that one….you guessed it…the "Sieve Drop".

The bigger ledge right below Island we call the "West Virginia Ledge".

Not too far after that, when the river bends hard left then back to the right, into some short but fun bedrock slides, we call that "3 Slides".

Lead in to the portage

The Portage

Right after is the "Airplane Turn Ledge" (cause of the move on the left)

"Kim's Wig" is just after a bigger waterfall pours in on river right. Has a bedrock hump on the right, that you're trying to jump.

Just after that is the "Maze", long congested boulder garden. Then when you duck the big log going to the right, and straighten out for a boof on the left, is "Dead Kennedy's".

"Big Slide" against the right wall (big boulder and log jam on the left), then leads into the final four, all run on the right, with the last one dropping into the "Cavern".

New favorite name of a rapid: Dead Kennedy's.

Close your eyes, can't happen here
Big Bro' on white horse is near
The hippies won't come back you say
Mellow out or you will pay
Mellow out or you will pay!

Jello Biafra would be proud. Actually he'd probably just call us Yuppies.

Did you run those names through a trademark search to see if they're OK to use?

What about boulder drop, you know the one with all the rocks.

Forget the trademark search.....I mean how many "Sieve Drops" can there possibly be. :)

I should've run them by you and a few others Jon, who were boating this before my time. I'm going for a run tomorrow with one of those, who shared "Dead Kennedys" with me, so I'll ask him about any others.

You know Chris, it's like the guy at the Lil White who was asked about the run by somebody, and he just kept muttering...."It's just rocks and water...rocks and water..."
