I was up there this evening hoping to get an after work run in. The road is blocked off and the barricaded with a locked gate just after the parking lot for Mailbox Peak. Apparently there was a landslide back in January. Would love to find out more about when this will be reopened or if anyone has any secret put ins

There is a put in right below the A-frame rapid, so you miss out on the whitewater above that but you still have house rock and all the other goodness down river

Nooo! That's terrible news about the road. Confirmed in the link below:

Glad I saw this, I had the raft loaded up and was heading out to play hooky today. Perfect level, heartbreaking...

If you want to carry your boat up to the normal put in the road is in fine shape till right before Concrete Bridge. It's too bad they closed the road as far up as they have. I guess it's easiest for the state to close the road because the gates are already there. It would be awesome if they opened up MF road to at least the put in.....maybe we'll have to beg if they take forever to fix the road! I miss the MM!

Have done the walk to the put in a couple times now, takes about 15 - 20mins with your boat.

I've heard the owner of the A-frame house is less than excited about cars in the pull-outs at the putin.

I would like to paddle that run. From reading the description it sounds pretty reasonable. I am in Olympia and I am free tomorrow.
or humptulips if anyone from Olympia is reading.

We successfully used the A-Frame put-in trail on Thursday (with rafts!) No issues with the homeowner, but it was a weekday so probably nobody was around to be bothered. According to the flagger at Mailbox Peak trailhead, the road will be closed throughout April because of these huge trucks running in and out, but after that it sounded like it will be occasional closures like last summer. This is road improvement project in it's third and final summer. I can't wait for it to get back to normal.
Also, oh what a great, great level to run at. Perfect day.

Sounds fun... and close. Count me in. 11am at take out? Have not been in a kayak in almost 2 months and need a good playboating run to get my cartwheel on. Robe is calling, but not 2 months off the couch. I live near the intersection of I-5 and I-90 if anyone wants to carpool (my car or yours, either way), please send me a text: three 47 - 7 for 6 - 6 for 89
Thanks,
Eli

I have to be at work at 11 on Sunday in Seattle, but wouldn't mind hitting up dawn patrol on the MM if there are any takers. I know kayakers and windsurfers sleep until noon, but let me know if you want to get your a.m. shred on.
------------- This river don't go to Aintry. You done taken a wrong turn.
