I had the priveledge tonight, at the UPS pool session, of meeting James Amandus Sr.
I also had the honor of helping him learn to roll, it was an intimidating task since James Jr had already given pops some pointers. We made good progress, however that's not what this is about.
I initially thought of shining  James on a little with made up, or inflamed stories of this evening, but I decided to pay tribute was a far more respectful tact. I wanted to talk about how I was teaching James (Sr) to roll, and he sucked at it, but I can't even say that about his pop. Damn genetics.
What I can say is that I was impressed with James (Sr) And (Jr), and the family unit they have, how cool is it to bring your dad to a pool session and show him what you love? Talking with James (Sr) he didn't really know what James (jr) does for us on a regular basis, I suspect it is the humble nature of James (jr) that blurrs his accomplishments, I hope I enlightened him a little. But I doubt I raised his opinion of his son. I honestly can't see how he could think higher of him.
It is a wonderful thing when family can be part of what we love, Arn and Deb have it, Courtney and Jimmy, and James and Lydia, there are many more that are escaping me, but you get the drift.
It was a cool night that I enjoyed being part of, props to James for bringing his dad, and more props to James (sr) for raising his son. Hats off!!
I am not usually the most articulate guy with my thoughts, it makes sence to me so piss off!  But this had to be told.
We all wish we could show our parents what we can do.  It gains a little validity in our lives when the people we love and respect understand a little more about or obsessions.
Kayaking is not all about what happens on the water, some of the best moments are created from the people we share time with.
  Peace and Many Thanks
