anyone run it at 25,000 cfs?
around 7 feet on the paridise gauge.
I know it's big, but how big?

I ran it at 5 feet and it was huge! It was very managable but the two trips behind us failed losing rafts. One group got flown out of Moose Creek and another had to hike out...We saved one of their rafts...

I have never run it that high but I have been on it three times and my guess is that some of the rapids would wash out /clean up a bit (albeit remain big and pushy) while others would get much hrader.  My guess is that Goat Creek, Double Drop and Ladle would be worst because there are some big boulders sticking out of the water at 4ft that are likely to reek havok once submerged.  If you go, make sure to post the pics.

I would be careful expecting rapids will wash-out or clean up at 7' and above.  I think they will only get gnarlier...especially the Moose Juice section (Double Drop, Ladle, Little Niagra, Wapoots).  I don't think the Selway is a washing out kind of river, I would imagine it only gets bigger and gnarlier at 7+ feet (my experience is at 5').  Since you don't have any rafts, I would recommend that everyone in your group has an extremely strong and reliable roll and that everyone is in top shape physically and mentally for the Selway at big water.  If someone swims at 7 feet in the Moose Juice you might not ever see them again.  Also consider if you loose your boat and all your gear, how far evac will be.   People get evacuated from that strech every year during much lower flows for good reason...

Also consider wearing high-float PFD's...

The Selway is a beautiful river and I am glad its such a hard permit to get.  It is no joke with regard to the whitewater and is definietly a step up from other multiday big water permitted trips in ID.  Good luck, Be careful, and have fun!!!

The top is what changes the most at those high flows.  It gets bigger.  It's not nearly that high now.  When are you going?  Go.  It's worth it.  There's no way it will be that high in the near future.

I want to go, but I'm 15, and my dad "has other commitments to your mother" and decided not to go. 2 weeks ago he was on the middle fk. salmon, and last weekend we went to leavenworth. leaving this saturday for 5-6 days "isn't worth it". yeah, whatever.
