Anyone that has visited Sunset Falls on the E Fork Lewis probably have a few stories to tell about the Campground host there. I would love to hear these stories.
Mike Olsen, is beginning to have some major issues with this person again. He has asked for my help in collecting statements from people and getting them to the people that can help us in the situation.
Shelby, JP - I know you have some infomation that could really help.
Shoot me an email or give a call.
Many thanks, Mike is a hell of a guy, he opens up his home and his life to kayakers all the time, he needs our help!!
  Cheers

Just a bump up on the topic line....  amazing that everyone attended the CC race stayed at his house, but noone seems to get behind the guy???
Congrats, hopefully he will continue to be as welcoming of us in spite of our level of support.

Are you talking about Ray the overly aggresive camp host ? I am surprised he doesnt have a bullhorn yet aka police academy.  :)

Yes, Ray ( I was trying not to name manes)
He has become increasingly obtrusive, primarily to kayakers.
This whole process is to get as many viewpoints to the powers that be as possible, not necessarily to get rid of him, but there is a distinct need for accountability.
  Please help if you can.
Cheers

Don't doubt that all of us are extremely grateful to have Mike Olsen in the kayaking community, he is an invaluable member.  However, not everyone has a story to tell about the sunset guy.

But please, if you do have a story, write it down and send it in.  Oly has a heart of gold but he has not been permitted to even ride a bike or skateboard in the park.  But, he told me that he doesn't want the guy to lose his job,he just wants the ranger to change his methods.

Ya, I don't think it's anything against Mike, it's just that people haven't had "incidents" with him.

We got pulled over by the park ranger for going a few over the speed limit the weekend of the race.  That's when I had the pleasure of meeting Roy since he came over to bitch about kayakers.  He's some lonely old dude with no real place in life so he feels the need to enforce petty rules.  I feel for Mike, but don't really want to make up an incident that never happened.

Ok - here goes – I figured I’d put this in the public record:

When I arrived at the EF Lewis park the Sunday of the CC Lewis Race (dates, anyone?), Ray immediately came out to check if I had a parking permit.  I hadn't had a chance to pull it out, because I was only pausing there a few moments (there is supposedly a 30 minute grace period).  I told him this, and he became belligerent, demanding that I produce the pass immediately, and that I was not being truthful about having a pass.  I satisfied his request, not wanting to cause a scene.

At that point, I witnessed this Ray pick a fight with both Jon Shelby and Mike.  With Mike, as I recall, it was that he was riding a bike in the park, with Jon, it was the immediate demand for payment or a pass (Jon was also not planning to stay for a long period of time).

While this is hearsay, I am told Ray called the police and told them he was threatened.  What I do know is that there was a police office targeting Kayakers for speeding (20 in a 15, or something like that) for the remainder of the day.

The bottom line is that Ray, in conjunction with the police officer (who it would seem are friends) have repeatedly harassed kaykers and other people attempting to enjoy public lands.  This is, in

"This is, in..."  what?

why did Leif just cut off like that? Now I'm scared. Do we need to call the X-Files?

Leif! Come Back!

The truth is out there...

Seriously, Tobin, I was with Dave during the speeding incident... I'll try to recall the details and send them to you.
