The LW has new wood at s-turn. Mandatory scout/portage. Spread the word.

Passing info along for Heather

When did it show up? There was some wood on Friday, however you could still run it, but needed to go far left to avoid. I am curious if this is the piece of concern or something else has come down?

Tyler Bradt and Lane Jacobs ran it a couple days ago (yesterday?) at 4.3 and there it was in S-Turn. No details.

well, details are what's needed here, otherwise why bother posting anything?
Still, I guess it's good to know not to bomb over the first drop without finding out more.

The other thing perhaps worth a mention about this is, it would be better to get the beta straight from the horses mouth, dontcha think? Or we could play the game "Telephone"...

And it wouldn't hurt to post it in the alert box on the river's description, after the relevant info is posted here.

Not that I care all the much, just sayin...

Well, the horse didn't post here, so this is whacha get. Better than nothing I think. Maybe not. I don't think Tyler Bradt or Lane Jacobs even know about PP.

The wood is located on the first drop of S-Turn on river left. It is blind from above and deserves a scout. Info as of Sat 1/30/2010.
There is still wood on river left in the boulder jumble below. Use caution.

If you don't know where you are going, any road will get you there.

Yeah Dan, you are right. It is commonly run right to set up for the right line at the bottom. I think as flows increase though, the right is run less due to the huge boil and possibility of getting recirculated, especially with the new log. Hawthorne, however, ran far far right, where it kind of double drops right above the second part of S-

Turn. We looked at a center line but determined it to be too burly for us.
All in all, it was a great time. Keep your eyes out for wood though, there is a lot of it on the run. Some is in play already and it is obviously moving around.

right on Darren. Thanks for the report.

Personally I don't see the need to run it above 3.6' or so. More action than I want or need.

The center line at S-Turn is my chosen route lately since that big log on the left appeared at the bottom. I usually just fly out and land on that boil you are describing (it's much smaller at the flows I run run it- 3.5' and less. I've heard though that the far right line a prefered route at higher flows though.
