We have a Kayak polo group in Kirkland and are looking for new players!   We meet every Wednesday night at Marsh Park - all year - rain, shine, snow or wind.    It is a very friendly but competitive game.    Games start around 6 PM and we play until 8 or later.   All levels welcomed.      We have had players use their own kayaks but we prefer to have everyone in sit-on-tops (we provide).     The boats may get banged up a bit since the game can get aggressive.

Let me know if you want more details!

Footie,

Do you have goals that you set up in the lake?
 Is there lights?
If your on sit on tops can you be pushed over like in a normal game?
Do you play with paddles, if so do they have to be taped?
Do you have a copy of the rules that you play with?
If Leif shows up can he just swim around flipping people over whilst chit chatting with players on both sides?

I'm in for an occasional game if we can push each other around. I've only played with the UW club, and it was great roll practice. That is a large part of the experience I'd be coming for.

I have played for years but have not seen any written rules.    Doesn't mean though they do not exist.   We are not an "official" organization.   We are a group of friends that have been playing together for umpteen years w/ a few new players here and there.     The city of Kirkland put up lights for us at the end of the dock (Marsh Park) and we use 2 large white buoys as goals.    As for flipping, we are on sit-on-tops so we don't do much.  It can happen (if you are in the right kayak) but most of us do not use the knee straps needed to flip.     PLUS..the sit-on-tops are hard to flip.

Come out and check it out so you can get a feel for the game and how we play.   Like I said, it is an aggressive game w/ a lot of smack talk and it is fun.   Play or just watch - Come out!    We have extra kayaks and paddles.   Let me know!

We had to cancel tonight's game since we did not have enough players (had 5 but need 6 to play).

Can I convince anyone to come to Kirkland next week to give it a try?
