Anyone paddle one of these or others in the remix series. I am quite tall and want a speedier boat for creeking and river runnin. I paddled one briefly and was impressed, I just wonder if anyone has any thoughts based on more time in the cockpit. Seems like it would make a good creeker, I am looking to get away from the short bulbous boats and get more performance. Thanks in advance for any input.

I know that people around the Payette River area love them because they are fast and can handle "big water" well (I'm pretty sure the NF Payette is classified as big water class V). I'm not sure how great it would be for Washington creeks.

My bro Shelby paddles one (Shlebco) and he has been running everything in the Remix 79. He is tall too so you might send him a PM to get some information about the boat but he is just back from the canyon so he might pop on here in a little while. Oh, and he lives in Leavenworth just to give you an idea of the character of our local runs that his Remix probably sees the most.

I paddled a Remix (the size that fit me) on the Upper Yough last time I was visiting and had a great run in it- I found it rather sporty. It seemed only a mild departure from the "short bulbous" designs with excessive rocker- to me that's one of the keys.

We all know what rocker does for us, but sometimes I think contemporary creekboats have a bit too much. Don't get me wrong it makes a lot of tight, turbulent water easier to negotiate, but it does so at the expense of hull speed and tracking. You could take a small amount of rocker away and still have plenty. It just takes compensatory skill then to overcome the lack of it.

But yeah, I think the Remix seemed like a fun boat. It would be interesting to lay it side by side some other boats though for comparison.

I think the less/more rocker argument is most important in determining if the boat is good for high or low volume rivers. For big water rivers or filled-in creeks the Remix 79 is one of the best boats out there. I wouldn't want it as my primary creeker though, I don't think it's ideal for low water or manky runs, particularly with that concave stern.
I'm pretty excited about the new burn, the extra rocker and less edges should make it even more the ideal boat for the rivers up here.
Weren't you going to try to get a Prijon Pure? I wish I could try one of those!
