Ok, so I am on the road to go hit some goods today. Hopefully many of you are as well. We finally got some rain and there is more on the way, so sharpen up that hoof stroke, go out n GET SOME!!

But while we are out boating this weekend and moving forward, we gotta keep this topic fresh on our minds. There are another round of deadlines to hit in terms of writing letters. I just posted some of those on the "return of movie night" thread. Didn't have time for much else but rest assured I'm composing some stuff in my head to bang out a letter or three by sunday night.

Anyway almost to Battleground battrry gonna die.
Lets Band Together on This Battleground to SAVE SUNSET FALLS!!

Lets revive this topic-
If my phone powers back up in 12-24 hrs and this thread hasn't seen any action, I'm gonna bump it with links and details on how to stay on top of this. Hopefully someone whos staying home today will beat me to it. And Irene's gone n run off with some kiwi, so she can't be expected to beat the drum 24/7.

We all need to stay involved. Its only gonna take a few moments of attention.

Thanks, Greg--

Obviously http://www.savetheskyriver.org/ is the goto page for all of your activist needs.

I fired off my comments to the Northwest Power Conservation Council. Those comments are due by November 20, the day after next. Please take 10min to do so yourself, if you haven't already. This is probably going to be the most important recurring topic between now and 2017 as this process moves forward.

There is a cluster of little opporortunities to express our opposition to this dam. Its gonna require some critical mass from us as an interest group, its going to require cohesion, and a pretty casual yet relentless comitment to take advantage of these opportunities.

It would be cool to see this topic on top of the heap on these forums, to hear people discussing it more at the put ins and in the flatwater stretches, ect. It would be really really cool if we each pursuaded three or more non-boaters to tune into this issue and voice their opinion.

Just saying. It would be so very very sad if we were lazy on this and dropped thd ball. I want to try to comment every chance I get.
We're talking about the WILD SKY- one of the most amazing rivers in the state

here are some deadlines approaching in the next few days:

1:30 PM Nov. 19, Dec. 2, & Dec.17 SnoPUD Commissioners meeting- make comments

Nov.20 Deadline for comments sent to NPCC.

Dec. 1 Deadline for comments sent to FERC

Submit a letter to the Editor of the Everett Herald anytime, just do it. (I'm currently working on mine).

Encourage your family freinds and co workers to do the same. I'm going to make sure this info gets bumped the the top of the thread pile, but for now, this is what's key:

Go Boat with your friends. The rain is here!! Talk about this issue while you are out Come back and write one of those letters. If you already have, send in an editorial. Seriously we gotta GALVANIZE

THEY WANT TO DAM SUNSET FALLS THATS OUTRAGEOUS

Thanks for staying on it JP!  I am traveling this week, that's why a bit AWOL from PP. :)

Here are some shortcuts that might help make it easier to reach the comment pages:

FERC Comments:  http://tinyurl.com/ferccomment

--->  Refer to Docket # P-14295-001 and comment to FERC on SnoPUD's proposed study plans.  (The plans are at http://tinyurl.com/snopudplans in Schedule C.)

NPCC Comments:  http://tinyurl.com/npcccomment

-----> NPCC can keep the Skykomish's status as a Protected River, giving the NPCC authority to deny SnoPUD the right to transmit power over BPA lines (which SnoPUD would do in order to sell energy credits to California.)

More detailed summary of what has been done, what needs to be done, and why, are here:
http://www.savetheskyriver.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/RiverSpeak-1-Oct-13.pdf

Thanks to all who are taking the time to help with this, as JP said, "It would be so very very sad if we were lazy on this and dropped the ball."   Yup.
It's all fun and games until someone loses a paddle.
