When your camping up at whistler there is simply 1 perfect morning wake up run. The cheakamus. This run has everything you need to start the day out right, or wrong.

If you are feeling hearty you can pick out your line on the first waterfall. Three ran it on our morning. Hale, Erik and Ryan. Two clean lines and one not so clean. But all were running it none the less and balled up for the big boy. Jon, Dave and I wimped out and opted for the easy morning wakeup.

The run starts out with some fun class III and a few little easier class IV rapids before coming to Bridge drop and then Triple drop. Both are class IV and very fun. Triple drop has a third little ledge with a very sticky hole in the middle. The line is to run far left around the hole. Everyone aced the line and we had fun. After Triple drop Jon, Dave and I got one rapid ahead from the rest of the group so we eddied out for a quick breather. Since the others had no shuttles to drive and my van was the only vehicle up top, Dave and I decided to bomb down really quick to run shuttle while the others slowly made their way down. Jon chilled out behind to pass along the message.

With only a few more class III-IV rapids the run was a blast and then off to the shuttle. On the way back up to the putin, we saw a very large black bear chilling in the bushes on the river side of the road. He was sporting this enormous orange collar and I could only think how much he must hate that thing. Poor guy.

So when your up in the whistler area, keep an eye out for bears cause they are around.
