Topic: Tieton run on Sunday Posted: 29 Aug 2005 at 12:29pm |
Sunday is Ok. It's only a 1.5 hour drive from my house, so it's going to be a day trip for me.

If I am in town (not traveling) - and I expect to be in town - either day will work for me. The trip will be longer from Bainbridge, though I would still treat it as a day trip.
Do you go I-90 to I-82 to 12 (through Yakima), or take 12 through Morton and by rimrock lake?

I go through Morton, Packwood, or Skate Creek road by Mnt Rainier. I Live in the Spanaway/ Parkland area, so I never hit the freeways all the way there. I have made it there in under an hour before, speeding heavily at night. I try not to drive like that anymore.

I can only go Sunday. If that is the day we go, does anyone want to
carpool from the Seattle area?

Sunday is good for me. Does this work for you, Dave?
Regarding carpooling, I'd be coming from Bainbridge, so it is on my way to pick you up or park my car at your place. Do you want to leave Sunday early, or Saturday afternoon?

OK guys, Sunday is fine with me. I live close to the I-5/ Hwy 512 interchange, so if someone wants to carpool from my house to the river and back I have room for 1 person and gear. That saves 200 miles of alone driving. Give me a call at 253-531-9102.

i am up for this rockin' trip! with us on the river, the tieton won't even know what she is in for! i would like to cruise down there saturday evening (seeing as i have to work all day saturday). i particularly enjoy camping before boating and i hear that there are some great river rat partys in the campgrounds down there. i have a few groupies that follow me everywhere, so i am sure that they will be down for this too!

Well, I can't leave till sunday morn', but I'm sure that my early morning
start won't make the river any less fearful of our imminent arrival.

So I think this is going to be a good sized group. My plan is to go Saturday morning, camp Saturday night, and return Sunday afternoon. I would anticipate a late Saturday run and a early-to-midday Sunday run. I have room for one additional boater in my car if anyone in would care to join me...

I'm still undecided about camping overnight on Sat., but if I finally make up my mind, where are you guys camping at? I usually camp at Waffle wall, it's a good spot, plus it's free.

I will be in for this trip, and I have a special campspot that I like near the take out.
It is actually about 1 mile above the Takeout Proper (near the bridge).
I am sure the river will be mellow and fun, but the scene will be off
the hook. I will head out friday night and be returning on Sat. Night.
I might even be talked into staying until sunday, but it depends on how
many people show up for the fun.
See ya out there. Oh and by the way I would love to hear how the Stein went for those that got a chance to hit it up.

We will be running on Sunday morning, so hope to see ya there. Meet at the takeout around 10:00am. Thats at the windy point double bridge, the second bridge downriver at the big pulloff. Where are you guys camping at? Is it up the gravel road that is between the bridges? I might come up Saturay to camp and possibly run on Saturday also.

Tom,
It is dam released and they usually end the flows the third weekend of
Sep. but I could be wrong about that. Should not be a problem for next
weekend though.
Sorry you could not make it this weekend though. See ya around.

Anyone up for carpooling up either Saturday morning for a run both days, or Saturday afternoon for a run on Sunday only? I could go any way at this point. I think I won't go up Friday night given the fact that rain is in the forcast:

I have been going to the Tieton for around 13 years and it usually runs the whole month of sept., of course getting to the low end of flow towards the last weekend, but by then the rains will hopefully come and our rivers will once again flow. I think I'll just be heading up early sunday morning for a day run. I may go camping there the next weekend (17,18th) or the last weekend (24,25th) of Sept.. I can only go one weekend or the other, so if a bunch of people want to go either weekend lets make a party of it, and have a last weekend of the summer blowout! See ya Sunday.

So, it looks like my friend and I won't be leaving seattle until around 830
on sunday, which means we won't make it for the 1000 start... so my
question is whether anyone is up for doing the run a bit later.

The Titon is at 1700cfs and climbing, hopefully it will hit 1900 by Sunday. 1900 is a great play level. The bridge wave should be in.

Bad news... I just found out that my sister is having a B-Day party this weekend and I have to go...
The crazy thing is that it is not even her birthday this weekend. Thus I will not be at the tieton this weekend.
The rains are starting to come down though and so I am really excited to begin our new year of boating with water again...
See ya out there
