A 10' Sawyer MX-G with ash blade and rope wrap. That fancy laquer on the blade doesn't let you write a name and number with sharpie

Twila and I surfed a HUGE hole below Boulder Drop today.... when we came out the oar had broken it's leash... we followed it to Aquagasm and then lost it.

This oar means a lot to us...appropriate reward offered.

Does anyone know of the "ocean sailing" version of ProPaddle....I have a feeling that our oar is taking a solo swim to the sea.

That sucks about the oar....hope you don't have too many issues like that on the Grand. 

I lost no pride walking boulder drop today.

Didn't think I'd ever do railroad bridge to big eddy, but well worth it at 18K!

I think the larger lesson I learned is 3-fold

1) Watch the hole on the left below Boulder Drop
2) Cataraft's surf sideways very well
3) P-cord breaks at 18k

Information for others.... the wood on a counter-balanced oar DOES float

Your oar will be the likely find of a fishing boat in the Sound.  That sucker was on a mission to ditch us, and the thought of trying to wrastle with it above that rapid didn't appeal too much!  The counter-balanced detail explains why it was floating blade up, with a whole 2 inches visible above water.  Just the thing to reel in across my cockpit:)
 
Great times on the river, nonetheless.  Survival is always a solid conclusion!
