Anyone interested in laps on FITW on the way out of town?
I am going to head out there and do a few on my way over to the Cooper. I am going to do a few laps out there on Sat. Maybe hit the China Play run but with the levels so low I doubt I will drive all the way to Triple Drop. Play that by ear.
So if your interested in any of those plans lets hear it...

I could be up for the Cooper on Sat. Don't think I can make FITW on Friday. Keep us posted on Sat.

James,
I would be interested, but as it is, can't go that way... not this weekend anyways. Are you staying over there thru the weekend? I was thinking maybe L. Wen on Sat or Sun if levels reach and stay above 6k.

I have Fri. off but have to work Sat. I am open to anything friday (tomorrow) so let me know.
I will be at the Cooper a couple of days next week. So a wood report would be appreciated. I have not decided yet what days I will be camping over there yet so if anyone else wants to go let me know whats good for you.

Cooper is like I-5 minus the bumper to bumper traffic. So in that case it's not like I-5 at all. But the high water that went through that little river bed has changed things. For the better. No wood anywhere, and a majority of those little bothersome rocks are gone. There is one that does a good wave imitation and results in a rather abrupt piton. Pretty much just solid bedrock now. The big rock in the bottom of Shark's Tooth has fallen over now opening up a super big line, through the mank that is this drop.
Bring a Forest Pass permit to park on river left. The river right unimproved campground has been destroyed by the FS. Evidently, some of the more colorful denizens of the area were using the unimproved site as a locale for weapons testing and scaring the bejeezes out of people that camped there and the property owners across the river. Good news is that the FS is working with AW to improve the takeout on river left. -Nick

There is no wood that is in play on the Cooper, as of 6/20/07. For the past couple weeks it has been at a fun, fluffy level. We ran it the day before yesterday and it is a bit lower but still but not scrappy between rapids and always fun. Have a good time!

James, question for you. Gage on the river page shows 1262ish as inflow at Cle Elum. The gage that AW uses from USBR is showing 1430 today. A track back on your gage link doesn't bring up the gage. So which gage are you using to get the 1262 number? I'm asking because I'd be bringing a beginning creeker over to the Coop, and while I tend to use the USBR gage for setting the level, I'd entertain bringing her over if the level was the 1262 you report. And now that I have 2 different values being read for the same run I'm confused and should really get back to work. -Nick

Nick,
To my knowledge AW does not even have a gauge for the cooper / cle elum. They just have the link to Yakstats on the Cooper and CleElum river pages.
Our app here is pulling the data out of the YakStats.txt file. So the resevoir inflow estimation (Not a Real Gauge) for the Cle Elum is what is being shown there. It gets updated twice an hour with the rest of the gauges but the file only gets populated by USBR once per day with values from the 6:00 am reading and they are usually published to the net around 7:40 am ish. We get em a few minutes later.
