Anyone up for the Carbon on Sat? The preferred section at this level is from the put in to Rick's, but we shall see about where the "take out" happens to be and whether people want to boat out or climb out.

The put-in to Rick's?  Not much of a run.  And considering it's hard enough to scout, if you can take out at Rick's I'll be impressed.  Of course, I'm easily impressed...

Dave and I have switched gears and are going on a scouting mission to find an alternate take out for the upper run (put in to Rick's). I understand taking out just after Rick's is less than desirable.

After lengthy buskwacking and scouting along the canyon rim (2 hours and plenty of devil's club) we found a spot that can be used to hike out less than a half mile below Rick's. It's a little steeper than the take out at Paradise Ledge. We figure it will take between an hour and an hour and a half to get from river level to road level. What do you miss? 3 miles of LOW possibly pinny/sievey class III-V drops and 3-4 miles of gravelly class II.
