So, today I ran the Upper Green Gorge at 312cfs in my Ducky. It is something I always wanted to do at low water to see the features in there.
I was pleasantly surprised! It was absolutely beautiful in there today and all I wore was a pair of shorts as it was over 80 deg!
Here is Murcury Drop.
The Nozzle.
The right slot next to the Nozzle. It was very scary trying to take a picture in there, it kept trying to suck me in, and I was boating solo...
The Nozzle looking upstream at it, amazing how high the rock is out of the water! When we run it there is only a small amount showing at higher water. No, I did not find any lost gear in there, but I looked!
Paradise was a nice place to take out, the hike up is the same even at low water....it still sucks...
I saw a moon rock out there today too!
 
Overall, it all goes in there, I only had to get out of the boat once to pull it off of a rock. You need a lot of boat handling skills to get down without getting stuck and I would only recomend using a ducky, a hardshell would not be any fun in there. You do scrap a lot, but in a ducky you can throw your body around to throw it over the rocks without getting stuck. This was like a class III creek run with lots of shoots and ledges. It was very fun today and I would do it again, but not any lower than it was today.

Nice work Dave. I've IKed it down to about 700 or so I think. But 312... now that is really embracing the spirit of ELF boating! I'd love to try it someday.

I would love to give that a shot sometime. I have heard of it running being run as low as 200 CFS.

I think anything lower than 300 and you would be walking some of the rapids. I can imagine though that higher than 300 and lower than 800 would be some fun ducky float levels. I will remember that from now on during the hot summer months.

That's pretty cool dave. I got your message a bit late but it looks like you had a good time. I just bought Lydia an IK so we might have to launch some more Elf Explorations ... Were you alone out there or were there other folks, boaters swimmer etc..?

Amazingly I was pretty much alone out there, I did see a couple of swimmers when I went through Kanasket, but that was around 12 noon after I put in at the bridge above Kanasket.
 
There was one old guy at Paradise (Mack) when I got there around 4pm. He said they have been keeping people out of there this summer to try and keep things clean and pristine, plus there is private property to walk through to get there. Les was gaurding the gate to Paradise parking lot, but since I have gotten to know some of the locals during the past few years, they let me park there. Of course if your a kayaker you may park there still, but you may have to give Les a beer or two...
 
If you have two people in a ducky like mine it may be very difficult to get down, but with one in a ducky like mine it was very nice, plenty of room to throw your body around to get over rocks, and you got to do a lot of that. It was very fun and chanllenging and after a while you kind of get into a mode of rock dodging and river reading, it is very different kind of boating.
