 Calendar Event: 2011 Creek Race Posted: 07 Mar 2011 at 1:26pm |
The icicle creek race has become a favorite of quite a few folks round these parts. It started off as a mass start down the creek in the first year and evolved into a timed single launch event with multiple classes. This year we are going to continue the fun with a multi class event. I will be loosely organizing the race and here is what you can expect. Race will be staggered launches 30 seconds apart, beginning at the bridge below Snow Creek and Finishing at the little twister drop just below the Weir. Classes- K1 - Boats under 8' 8"
- K1 Long Boat - over 8' 8"
- Raft Class - R2 only
If we have an over whelming turnout for full raft teams we can add a class but right now were expecting only an R2 class. The Creek Race is set to begin May 28th at 2:00 (pm) All participants are requested to meet up at the Ball Campground at 1:00pm for registration and instructions.

Ok, you rafters out there! Who's gonna represent and race this year! I know you're out there! Last year there were two rafts. This year? So I'm gonna start the trash talking with this. Hans and I are gonna bring the fackin ruckus! We be so fast that Dale Earnhardt jr. asks for our autograph when he sees us at Dennys on Sunday morning! BOOSH! Hans and I are so fast that KGB spies stole a blood sample of us to use for an experimental rocket fuel. BAM! Hans and I are so fast that we pee gatorade! SNAP!
But in all seriousness, bust out the carlson's, top off those sotars, Argonaught Inflatable Rafting Equipments, and Maravias, strap down that jankety spare paddle, and paddle har. Then help carry the heavy bastards up from the take out. Haha, well maybe that's not a good motivator, but maybe we can takeout at the hatchery instead.
See Y'all out there.
PS, we're not really that fast, all of that was wild exaggeration.

And on a side note, if there are only two teams there will be prizes for both, so someone best step it up and stomp these two out!

Team OLY is stepping up to the challenge! My team took second in the Wind River race so beware. James, what kind of prizes are we talking about. Need to decide whether to bring the A or B team.

Cool. There is only 1 team. I was on a raft team that took 2nd in a 3 man race on the wind. I can talk a little smack too. That being said, I've never actually done the Icicle and would appreciate any beta on the run (could we go last?)

Maybe the 3rd place team should get throwbags.

Hans think of the kayaker take out as more of a Cool Down, you paddle the run and just to make sure you don't get any cramps we have included a small jaunt up a hill laden with loose dirt and rusty metal spikes.
As for prize assignment, were going to make every effort to award 3 places if three teams turn out, however it will be more balanced, IE first would get the Big Sotar Back Packs, second would get throw bags and third would get the Dry sacks. This ain't no super strict comp, so the competitors can have a say in how we divide stuff and make awards, of course usually first place wants the most say, so sharpen those teeth cuz the race is only 3 days away.

Jed,
I'm hoping Greg makes it down in time. Otherwise I'm going to try to enlist Jared. Should be a blast.
