I just received a notice of application for a residential subdivision of 156 homes in that open area behind the MM take out. Public comments are due by January 9th. I have no idea what this means for all of the empty space in which we, as well as fisherman and others, currently park to access the river, or for river access itself.

Perhaps someone construction- or permit-savvy could check it out and let us know?
(parcel 132308-9007 located off SE Tanner Rd, applicant Michael Huey, CPH Consultants on behalf of Segale Properties LLC)    (NB Govt contact: Mike McCarty, Senior Planner, North Bend Comm. and Econ. Devel. 425-888-7649)

Decision criteria for preliminary subdivision includes: " The public use and interest will be served by the platting of such subdivision and dedication. (Ord. 1464 § 1 (Exh. A (part)), 2012: Ord. 1188 § 2 (part), 2003)."  It seems to me that part of the public interest, then, includes continued parking and river access... A notice is supposed to be posted at the site itself, but I have not seen one...

156 homes!!?!! Holy smokes will that be a game changer in that neck of the woods. That will require a huge investment in infrastructure including road building, sewers, no doubt commercial aspects etc. That seems like a whole lot of building to just pop-up overnight, no doubt folks have been working on this for quite some time. WOWZA!

A few people requested the info for making public comments- they must be received by 4:30pm Jan 9th either  mailed, personally delivered, emailed or facsimile to Community and Economic Development Department  126 E. Fourth Street, North Bend, WA 98045  Phone 425-888-7649 and Fax 425-888-5636  The notice did not give an email address, but there's one above, thanks Meryl.

Yes... it's a huge project and I'm not happy about it in my (once quiet) backyard. Sewer went in a few years ago, and it's rumored that this project is probably one of the reasons our area was annexed to the city... the roads are something I'm curious about, because of our parking as well as the increased traffic in our small dead-end street. Our little road already is in poor shape, and the corner turn onto Tanner has been the site of at least one fatal accident... Not to mention that's a huge number of cars to get out of a dead-end quickly in an emergency evacuation! I'll have to look into it for sure!
