Nearly all of the most involved rescues I've experienced have happened on a relatively easy section of river. And it's amazing how often it isn't even someone in your group. You're just paddling along and then, blam!, some emergency falls in your lap.
I've also worked a number of fatality accidents as part of my job and I know those things tend to stick with you, even when you're only peripherally involved. Many thanks to the crew on the Green that rescued that woman. You did everything you could to save her.
