Central Washington University University Recreation – Outdoor Pursuits and Rentals
OUTDOOR PROGRAMS GRADUATE ASSISTANT
Required Experience:
Training and Instructor experience and certification in at least one of the following programming areas: Rock Climbing, Kayaking, or Whitewater Rafting. Must also have experience supervising and scheduling student employees or paid staff. General knowledge in the areas of recreation, student leadership, recreational facilities and programming will benefit applicants.
Graduate Assistant Duties include but are not limited to:
Create, promote, market, and develop outdoor recreation programs.
Manage the Outdoor Pursuits & Rentals rental equipment and special programs.
Manage and coordinate operations of the CWU Climbing Wall, Outdoor Trips, or
Challenge Course programming.
Provide staff training and course instruction for one of the following programming
areas: Rock Climbing, Outdoor Trips, or Challenge Course.
Advise with the Coordinator of Outdoor Pursuits and Rentals on providing supportive
programs with other campus departments.
Monitor and provide current Outdoor Recreation program information to the
department web page.
Assist with recruiting new part-time student employees and retaining previous
student employees.
Assist with scheduling student employees.
Maintain/supervise ongoing schedule of student personnel.
Assist in the development and maintenance of outdoor recreation staff manuals.
Assist with the quarterly review and development of the Outdoor Pursuits and
Rentals’ budget.
Maintain files and update forms that include payroll, accident reports, waivers, rental
agreements, etc.
Maintain minimum requirements for graduate program.
Other related duties as assigned or requested.
Term of Appointment: Sept 16, 2014 – June 15, 2016 (summer employment opportunities available). **Renewal Annually**
