Is there alternate access on the other side of the river? Looks like FS land over there and with a little hike you should make it - but I'd take an established trail if there is one. A little beta out there?

You can put in by the A-Frame drop. There is a trail and some parking on the side of the road there. It shortens the run up, but you only miss some of the first couple of rapids. It is on the lower road right before the houses on the A-Frame corner rapid and you go down a short steep trail. Very easy...

Love the A-frame put-in. We used it when the road was washed out and you only really miss the surf wave at the usual put-in.

Just an FYI, paddled the MM today with the intention of putting in @ A-frame. The A-frame homeowner has parked his personal cars in the pullout mentioned earlier and isn't happy about kayakers accessing the river there. He made it clear that it is all private property until you get on the gravel road. There seems to be a neighborhood watch going on because we tried to just park by the road block and walk back to A-frame but someone from the camp by the end of the road came running out and gave us the private property lecture and told us again the A-frame homeowners are getting pissed off. Personally I think we need to respect the neighborhood in hopes of making us look better when future access issues arise. Make your own call....

That's really unfortunate, and I worried that might happen. I've used the Aframe Putin a lot in the past few years without any issues...especially when solo or taking one of my kids in the duo. Always parking at the very small pullout next to the telephone pole, not the pullout right next to the house. If someone parked in that closer pullout then I'm not surprised about the response.
It could also be that they're seeing other recreational users parking in their neighborhood and kayakers are just part of the problem.
Agree about respecting the homeowners.

Ya it is unfortunate, I too have used this access in the past and had never had an issue. The homeowner was parked in the small pullout by the telephone pole(had two vehicles to really make the point I guess). The pullout closer to the house was totally vacant.

Wow. That is the "preemptive response". Sounds like the homeowner had some interaction earlier in the week that set him off.
Regardless sounds like that access is out. I did some looking on the King County Parcel viewer to see if there were other options. The other side of the river is DNR but no close road access. What was interesting is it looked like the DNR land extended across the river to include a small parcel of the RL beach above Aframe but there was no easement access.

Looks like with the closures and possible delays on open days that finding access on the river right side is desirable.
For a put-in, it looks like the Mt Si Road (NF 9010-1) dips close to the Island Drop put in. But that looks like a bit of a hill down. If there was a trail down that might make it more tolerable. I recall someone mentioning that being access before.
For the take-out there is the spot below the normal Tanner take out. Or, across the river from the normal Tanner take out is the same utility easement that we use.
Dunno - given that this might be going on for a few years, it might be worth some exploring to find some legal access.

Still looking the King County Parcel Viewer - what about at the end of SE Middle Fork Place. Looks like that ends on DNR land and puts you above A-frame.

In looking at the Parcel Viewer, SE MF Place is going to be private, but.....it looks like that where the roadblock is (where the two roads come back together), that is public property next to the road going upstream (both sides), and the next parcel "9035" is owned by King County.
So may, and I stress the word may, be feasible to walk in from the roadblock just off the road in the woods, until you get to the DNR land, where you'd hang a lefty, and head to the river.

we thought that would work but we were turned away by the construction people guarding the roadblock. However when we came back later for the shuttle no one was there guarding the road block... That was after 6:30 pm. we were turned away about 5:30 so maybe just putting on after 6:30 is the ticket...who knows
