Topic: Any East Siders up for the Palouse? Posted: 05 Mar 2008 at 11:42am |
I can't ever seem to convince anyone to check out the run above Palouse falls. I could go either day this weekend. Supposed to have one decent falls and a bid slide in addiotn to some II-III stuff in what looks to be a unique basaly canyon.

I can't make it this weekend, but if you want to give it a shot next weekend I could probably do it. It's definately a run to do more for the scenery than for the whitewater, but the falls are pretty sweet. Long shuttle and a lot of flatwater in there, though.

Give me a holler if you decide not to go and want to run Tumwater. With gas prices as high as they are, I am staying close to home.

Tummy is a good 4.5 hrs from here....I'd be up for next weekend, also Yotes. Not expecting great WW, but have wanted to see that canyon for a few years now.

Gabe,
We are about due for our 2nd annual Tummy run. Whens a good weekend? We got a few more rapids to get under the raft this year.

Sure?

'My' Shredder is probably still with the guy I sold it to in Aspen or Vail or wherever it was....
But as I re-assured a friend who put up with me taking the Shredder down Lolo Creek last year: "Don't worry, it still takes a special kind of retard to c1!"
I sold the Puma, too, but I happen to know where I could borrow a nice 13' Otter that has even been on that stretch before. I'd definitely be up for a trip over there sometime before there is too much good water here to leave.

Use the plain gauge this time of the year. The peshastin gauge is okay to use in the summer, but this time of year the Icicle drainage will begin to melt sooner than the upper drainages that feed the Tumwater. That means that Icicle becomes runnable before most people think though.

Gabe, there are two good waterfalls on that run. The first one we took the center falls as the river has a choice of three waterfalls. We guessed it was somewhere around 20'. The second falls you can either treat it as a slide, far river left, or a good 18' fall with an interesting lead in depending on levels.
If I remember right there are a few fun little rapids here and there, but the majority of the run is flat water. I'd be up for going again sometime.

I can't make it this weekend. My wife unexpectedly registered me for a Guitar Hero contest on Saturday in correlation with the Irish Games...which will probably be a late night on its own. I'm probably going to get shown up by some 8 year old kid. On the plus side, after all is said and done atleast I can have beer or two.

I can do sunday, pick a time to meet at the takeout? (early is good, since it's a long run and a long shuttle, although it'll probalby go faster than the other time I did it, given the water level)

Might be able to get Blake to shuttle monkey for us. Coming from Tri-Cities do you go past the takeout road before you get to Hooper? Maybe meet at 10? Bennet list 3k as the upper end. It'll be intersting to see if it is higher. As long as I make the takeout.....
Ellis seems to think the Potlatch Canyon will be a go Saturday.....I think it will still be frozen as he reported the ice at Little Boulder in the 4" range this weekend.
