Hi Everyone,
Needing insurance for the Nordheimer Race 2 years ago I created a paddle America club under the ACA - The US Whitewater Racing Association.
What this means is that as a club we can insure events - in this case primarily whitewater racing events.
So if you're looking to organize a whitewater race but have no idea where to start or how to deal w/ insurance and a permit please feel free to give a call/email and you can use the club's insurance coverage for your event. In most cases there's no cost to insure the event since there's a handful of landowners already covered by the club.
Some of the organizing benefits of the USWWRA:
*Costs are almost all covered already ($5 per participant is the only cost, this goes to the ACA, free coverage if a racer has an ACA membership.) If a new landowner is needed to be covered under the Cert. of Insurance there's a $20 fee (again this goes to the ACA to cover the new landowner (BLM, USFS, Private, etc)).
*You can use the USWWRA site to create a webpage for your event to help spread the word about your race.
*Permits for "Special Events" almost always require insurance, here's a means to obtain the insurance to be granted a permit.
If you have a race that isn't listed on the site's calender (regional tab) then please send me an email and I'll get it on there. Any suggestions, comments, etc are all welcome.
The site is just getting established but for more info go to www.uswwra.com
