Run Description [Season: Whenever there isn't ice]

The run starts off with a bang..... a sweet seal launch. It then continues with about 4 miles of flat water.

You will know you are at the end of the flat water when you enter an abrupt canyon and the whitewater starts instantly with some class III boogie water.

The first hurtle of the day is the class IV-IV+ Apple Sauce rapid. Identified by a large (very large) pile of rocks on river left, this rapid is usually run down the right. Scout on the left.

With some more class III-IV boogie, you will quickly approach the run's namesake, Gore Rapid. Identified by several large boulders across the channel and a horizon line, scout on the right. This rapid has three lines:

1) The sneak: After the short entrance, keep to the right and run a narrow boof line into an eddy. Peel into the main current and continue your way down center right through the run-out.
2) The Professor: The center line, only open at higher water. Scout well and boof with speed, continue center-center right through the run out.
3) The Meat: A fun boof off the side of of a rock is the main attraction of this left-most line. Hit with speed and power through two holes and the left side of the run out.

At the end of the run out of Gore, you will encounter Scissors, a class IV+ that consists of a series of offset holes. Start with right angle and pingpog your way through this read and run.

Soon after this you will come to pyrite falls. Identify this by the narrowing of the channel and the river's turn to the left. You will also see a large headwall on the left bellow the rapid. This rapid is usually run down a fun slide on the left. Scout left if you need to or boat scout from the eddy on the left. Be careful of a few barely visible guard rocks at the top of the eddy at low water.

Continue for a mile or so of class IV boogie until you reach tunnel rapid. Identify by the rail tunnel above you on river right. Scout on the left. This rapid is a long class III lead in that culminates in a 5 foot ledge with a very beefy hole and a rock on river left at the bottom of the ledge. Land just to the right edge of the rock in a fast jet of lateral water that will keep you out of the hole.

Shortly after tunnel you will encounter toilet bowl, a river wide ledge with an EXTREMELY NASTY hole. You want to sneak this on far river left against the shore. This hole is not a place you want to be.

Paddle some more boogie water until you feel the pace pick up again. You are at Kirshbaum, your last V-. Start on the right and then move to the left between two large pour overs. Move back to the center/left and run through the fun run out.

From here on, you have several miles of III-IV- boogie until you see your take out on the left.
