About 2 - 3 miles upstream of the take out at a pull out. Hike down to the river via mossy trail. If you pass the Fish Hatchery you have gone too far upstream.

Run Description
I am surprised that there is no information on this run. Well, here is some "beta"
Ran it twice (April 14th & April 15th 2013) at flows of 3800cfs and 3600cfs on the Toutle River gauge (http://waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis/uv?14242580) which I understand is the best proxy for this river
Some locals we boated with on the first day said that this run is good from "high" water (6000cfs+) down to summer flows in July and sometimes even August as the river channelizes well. I seem to recall that they said they run it down to 800cfs and lower.
Very enjoyable Class III / IV run. Two rapids stand out. The first, is within 2/3 miles (??) of the put-in. It's a longish 'read and run' where the river makes an S turn. It was pretty much just left of center all the way down, dodging or punching holes. This rapid is likely to be a lot of "fun" (assuming a warped sense of fun?) at high flows...
The second was a bit further down and I remember it being a steeper, shorter rapid
There are plenty of Class III drops along the way but the last mile or so before the "red bar" take, the river becomes a mellow float
PTM's take on the run:
If you are looking for a quick hit like 10 minutes off of I-5, this is a good run. The shuttle takes like 3 minutes, and the run is about 3 miles long. there are rumors of decent surf waves, but i think we hit the run on the low side of the flows.
There were probably 3 notable drops, all of them with obvious horizon lines and easily scouted if desired. some nice boulders to boof off of, and some fun moves to make. easy to take a class 3 line down it, and possible to make harder more technical moves.
overall, i will be hitting this run more often during commuting from portland north.
