Putin DetailsHighway 508 (Main Street) bridge over the river in the town of Morton. There's a park here that offers easy access. Put-in just upstream of a class 3+ ledge... or downstream if you don't feel up to it. |
Takeout DetailsHighway 508 bridge over the river 7 miles west from the take-out. |

Other IssuesThere's a WEIR about 8 miles into the run. Watch for the concrete structure on river right. It's runnable, although some parts definitely looked sticky and it can be portaged river left. |
Fun FactsMakes an OK backup run if you show up to run the Tilton and levels or wood situation keeps you out of the lower gorge. |
Run Description [Season: Rainy]This run is mostly class 2 except for the ledge right at the put-in. Some of the run goes through some scenic canyons, but other parts are roadside or by houses. There's plenty of wood along the banks so keep an eye out. As of 3/13/2011 there were no logs blocking the main channel. There's a couple sections with some nice 2+ rapids, but much of the run is fast drifting. The best rapids are just below the put-in and below the confluence with the NF Tilton.
Flows: You'll have much less water at the put-in than the gauge reading. The NF Tilton enters about halfway through the run and adds about 50% more flow.
