  Fun Facts

Can be combined with the Packsaddle to Mill City run for a nice long trip.

   Run Description [Season: Year-round]

This is one of the best beginner-intermediate runs in N. Oregon, about an hour south of Portland. There's a nice variety of pool-drop rapids (mostly class 2) along the run with some great playspots. This is a large river that's runnable at a wide range of flows. 2000 to 4000 cfs are medium flows but it's often run higher as well. One spot worth noting is near the end of the run just below the confluence with the Little North Santiam, at medium to high flows some big catch on the fly waves appear that offer great front surfs.
