AccessHead out Hwy 530/Lewis River road from Woodland. Continue onto FR 90. It's a long drive past Merwin, Yale and Swift reservoirs. |
Putin DetailsContinue up FR 90 across the bridge. In 1/2 mile there's a little campground with a small store if you need snacks. Continue a few more miles and turn left on FR 9039 and follow down to a bridge over the river. If you're rafting, be advised, it's a steep carry down to the river. |
Takeout DetailsAt the end of Swift reservoir FR 90 crosses the NF Lewis. Just before the bridge is the takeout at Eagle Cliff park. Plenty of parking and easy access. |

Fun FactsWaterfalls! (To look at, not to run) |
Run Description [Season: Rainy]This is a short, but very beautiful run. The whitewater is OK, but the real reason to come is to check out the waterfalls. Not long after you launch, you'll come to Curly Creek Falls, coming in from river left, which pours through a pair of natural stone arches. You'll see a couple more nice falls downstream. Don't forget the camera.
The best whitewater is near the end of the run. Below the confluence with the Muddy River there is a long 2+ to 3 wave train. The rest of the run has intermittent class 2 drops with good recovery stretches, so it's a great run for beginners.
