Fun FactsScenic beginner run/float a decent play spot near the end. According to Bennett this is a fun run in the fall (flows permitting) when the salmon are spawning and the vine maple and cottonwoods are turning. |
Run DescriptionThis run is primarily a class I float with a some small riffles over gravel bars and a couple class II rapids. The entire run is 19 miles with the best scenery below the lower put in so unless you have a lot of time to kill, the lower put in is the better choice.
At low flows (the only flows I have run it at) the run is a great place for tentative newbies to get used to moving water.
The upper half of the run is lined with cabins while the lower half is relatively pristine. The most difficult rapid is a wave train that contains a few catch on the fly waves where the river takes bends left. A mile or two above the takeout there is a cool 50 foot wide diagonal shelf on river right that forms a cool hole for sidesurfing at lower flows and a fun surf wave at higher flows.
