This is the friends of the Fall In The Wall (FITW) thread.

If you love hitting FITW after work this thread is for you.
If you have/want to break the record of 12 laps in a day this thread is for you.
If your idea of fun includes dropping down fun ledge after ledge this thread is for you.
If you lost your boof stroke and want to find it, this thread is for you.

An answer of yes to any of these would make you a friend of FITW

Friends join your comrades in this thread to meet up for evening laps on FITW for the season is upon us.

Update 4/25/2010 3:00pm
--- Level was a half full cup --- Snow prevents access by vehicle but should be almost melted off in the next week or two.

Is this the thread for people that say: I've always wanted to run FITW?  I know I'm ready but just recovering from a broken foot injury.  Would love to come watch one day after work then after I get back into my boat come run it with you guys.

Yeah dude- that's all it takes to qualify as a Friend of the FITWah! Come on up soon, Boe! Bring your boat with you just in case you're ready to toss it on the crik.

Great news, James! I can't wait to hit it up. Summery fun summarizes this run. Sounds like the run is clean. Too bad it's a drop or too shorter, but nature giveth, and nature taketh away, right?

Keep me on the FITWah hotline- I'll do the same for yall

dude, you've only got a matter of days to wait! Now I don't want you to be dissappointed, Dan-- don't get your expectations up too high! You're a charge'n MoFo-- It should be a fun 'lil romp for ya. It's not gonna make the hair on the back of your neck stand up or nothin. Then again, you can always just ADD MORE WATER! It will get roosty then!

Expect a creeker's outdoor gym- a quaint, miniature creek. A creeker's equivilent to Miniature golf. It is steep, though.
I've heard people say it's a great intro creek run and I'm not sure I entirely agree, although I see where they are coming from when they make such statements.

It is no place to flip-too shallow. And certainly bring your elbow pads. There are a few elbow bashing opportunities if you get a foot off line or so.

It may be a drop shorter, but I know a couple of people that wouldn't run that drop anyway.

Lookin forward to gettin back on there, and seeing what that first drop looks like now. New name?????

I've never been up there, and I know that just going up is the way to really answer this, but I'd like to hike in with my 3.75 year-old and watch some of you run it. She is reliable and isn't going to run off a ledge into the river, and I'd hold on to her anyway, but is there good foot access to any of the drops that she and I could watch a bunch of you guys run?

Thx,

D

Dude, that drop was fine--- you just ran it on the wrong side. Plus from the sounds of it you were in a playboat. There was nothing wrong with the drop- only the choice of line and choice of boat. it is widely known that such a boat is prone to pinning, and that's why creeking in a playboat is discouraged. Even top paddlers who break that rule can't consistantly expect to get away scott free with that one.

Someone has to run it before we start talking about names for it- which I don't believe has happened. Would love to hear about if it has been run. Don't look at me though- it didn't look fun or remotely worth running at the flows I saw it.

Then again, with LOTS of water on the crik it'll go, and whoever finds it at such a flow will probably run it on the spot without batting an eye.

If I remember correctly he was in a creeker, but let us not get off subject.

D~ You sure can walk up and down the banks, I don't know if your little one will have much fun since there is a little bush wackin required. Also early in the season even though you can drive the road the banks will have plenty of snow. So plan on packing your snow shoes because it won't be snow free for quite some time.

Boe ~ Your in the right place ! Watch for upcoming outings.

Dan ~ JP is right don't expect a hair raising run without hair raising levels. Wicked it is not, but Fun it is, and logistically simple. You can pack a lunch and hang out all day by yourself or with a few friends that carpool together. It has to be the most sweet 1/2 mile run around with the easiest shuttle possible. So on a day when you and/or adrian are chompin to paddle you can just drive over without needing to hook up with anyone.

I want to finally hit it this year. After three years of scheduling issues with work it looks like I'll be able to make the afterwork runs!

Sweet. When I snowshoe, I usually just throw her onto my shoulders. How late into the summer does it typically run? I realize this will not be a long season this year.

Thx,

I had run that drop 15-20 time before that, and that was my first time running it in a creek boat. I think I was over confident. I only portaged that drop once, right after the incident, so I am not one of those people I was referring to. Other than one mistake, I really liked that drop. But Log Limbo hasn't fit that drop for a while, and I never much cared for the other name people started calling it, so it is time for a new name.

Back to the point of this thread, I will be there just as soon as it is running and accessible.

Larry, that ledge has since changed significantly. Several rocks jammed into it and it is now a chocked ledge with a slightly undercut wall on the left. Plenty of people have run it since the change no one has considered it a worthwhile addition to the run now that there is wood in the next drop below it. Serious beaver action is needed on that run.

Glad to hear this one is coming in, I've heard good things, I hope I'm ready for it..

Is this good to go in a Necky Crux? Not your full size creeker but it seems to be treating me right in the Class IV-IV+ stuff I've taken it on. Well maybe more like IV...

Dan, how long does it take us to get there from P.O.?

It's prolly right up your alley, TasteyWaves. It is very steep, kinda tight and kinda technical. People have described it as having class III lines, but that's more than a little misleading. It's fair to sandbag it down to class IV, just remember that you can get really hurt on it really easy if you get off line bad enough.

Plenty of driftwood bob and bumble down it though, just wear your elbow pads, and if you're new to creekin a full face helmet ain't a bad idea. You may be more prone to flipping, and the whole run is steep and shallow. Grinding your face down shallow slides doesn't feel good.

Scout the whole length your first time there before you put on- it's so easy to scout, there's no reason not to unless:
a- you are already a solid creeker, or
b- you are a dumbass, which you aren't

oh yeah-watch out for Fisherman's, especially at higher flows. Make sure someone competent is there to set safety and "Play Fisherman"
