I was there last Sun afternoon and it was 3" above.

So Brett's run is 3" above at 6.2' on gauge.

Brett, do you recall the level the day of the video that's posted? Would be nice to note the flow, even if approximate.

I updated the Top Tye page and some of the other runs in the SF Sky drainage.

And thanks Brett for the updates... will be nice to get some runs in up there on those SF Sky tribs this year and dial in more reasonable levels on the SF gauge. Figuring out how much of 10k at goldbar is actually in some little creek is a bit of a joke.

Joe, yes there's a little sapling at the takeout on the RR downstream side of the bridge. 6' on the SF gauge is even with the bottom of the sapling root/bottom-of-the-trunk; i.e. the water is just touching the bottom of it. 6.2' on the SF gauge = 3-4" of the sapling is in the water. It would be cool to remember our high water day a couple months ago. Christian? Tiziak? Anyone remember which day that was? It was pretty juicy. The sapling was at the 'nub' which is about 15" underwater. Everything was huge, none of us ran Box or Paranoia and Stairway to Heaven was 2-3 feet higher than I'd ever seen it before. Couple of huge holes at the bottom of that drop! Paranoia was more of a ramp than a vertical pourover. And that boil was waaay downstream!!!

Got some laps in today.  Level was at the base of the sapling maybe a little over.  

I would like to head up tomorrow. 

The big Tye day was December 28th. The Sky was at 22,000cfs and rising 400 cfs an hour.

TRIPLE CROWN!!

My last four Top Tye trips have been a good opportunity to record a few guage values.



12/2/2013: Definitely my favorite lap of all time. Winter Green water and snow all over everything. Big rain on snow event (heavey rain on the pass). Beefy but not Rowdy.
SF Sky Guage = 7' dropping to 6.8'
Sapling = +3-4" above base of Sapling, Medium High-ish
Sky Guage = 14,000 dropping fast


In Febuary Stevens Pass recieved an average of ten feet of snow in as many days. Then about a week ago we had a whole bunch of heavy, sustained rain up at Stevens Pass, melting a lot of snow as it ran off directly into Tye Creek...


3/6/2014: I like these levels- plenty padded out but not too powerful. Good clean boating...
SF Sky Guage = 7'+
Sapling = +3" above base of Sapling, Medium High-ish
Sky Guage = 20,000 dropping

3/7/2014: Almost identical to the previous day, except it was sunny!
SF Sky Guage = 7.4'
Sapling = +3-4" above base of Sapling, Medium High-ish
Sky Guage = 18,000+/-,

3/12/2014: By now the spike was declining, but levels continued to drop slowly due to warm temps on the pass, melting residual snow on the heels of the rain. Sunny and warm!
SF Sky Guage = 6' dropping to 5.8'
Sapling = more or less right at base of Sapling. Seems like a good level to call medium. Not a bad flow, but I like a little more.
Sky Guage = 8,500 dropping slowly

Anyway, those are the values of the guages for those dates, and my impressions of "Medium" and "Medium-High". I know there is always some subjectivity with this, but seems about right.

Nice sunny, warm day here at the take out today.
The 1:30 reading of the SF Sky guage was

6.4 ft at 1:31 PM on 4/9
falling 0.02 ft/hr

And at 1:50 PM the sapling is displaying +3", surging to 4".
Healthy flow in there for sure, so Sam you were spot on with that call.

Makes sense. 60+ degrees on the pass followed by some rain and some residual melt...
