What's the word? 6.08 and rising, maybe to 6.15?

ROBE RACE POSTPONED
I've taken an informal but highly scientific poll of potential racers
the general consensus is to postpone the race. Levels are slightly
higher than the recommended race levels and forecast to come up through
the day...At this point the race will be re-scheduled for next weekend
on Saturday May 4th. That being said levels are great for running robe
today so lets meet at 930am at the takeout for some classic western WA
creeking.

Well, keep doing the research. I been watching that over sized gnome hat approaching from over the horizon. Thousands of gnomes assembling like Voltron to make one damn big gnome...
Too far for me to drive to play this fickle game. Had I known it would be "game on" up to 6.2' or so i might show, but usually i'd like to catch it on the downslope of the gnome hat. I'd be nervous, but my Shiva wouldn't be. I guess I'm going to miss my first robe race . (Im out next wknd). Not at all surprised. Its a volitile time or year for flows on the Stilly...
Hit me up if any of u wanna get some (Top) Tye Food.

For some reason professorpaddle wasn't updating on my phone and I didn't see the posts about the race being canceled and I went out there anyway. It definitely wasn't a wasted trip because I now know how to get there, found the take out, the "wtf'' put in, made friends at PacaRanch (some kayaker boat out the eggs), and what not.
But it would be great to connect with some of y'all before I head out next time. Send me your phone number Force, and we'll connect before the next race.

Would if I could, but I can't. Last weekend was my window, so most likely I won't be able to make it.
Anyone who is aspiring to run stuff as difficult as Robe, but maybe not quite ready for whatever reason, should turn out for this unique and awesome event. The most grueling race in the PNW, aside from maybe the LW race. You can hike in the Old Robe Historical Trail, and see the best action just beyond the Tunnel at Last Sunshine. And its looking like great weather.
Come support an event that really ties the local paddling community together.

Would if I could, but I can't. Last weekend was my window, so most likely I won't be able to make it. This will be the first Robe Race I've missed, and I'm bummed. But then again, who knows? If temps get hot, them gnomes may spike the game again. If its postponed again I'll try to make it the following week. But for the sake of anyone racing, I hope yall get to get after it this weekend and be done with it. I know how it can be.

It was a warm day today and hopefully things stay in range for the race tomorrow. Let's plan on a 10am meeting tomorrow at the TO for all racers and volunteers. I'll plan to wake up early to verify levels and the day's schedule. Please spread the word.
See everyone out there. Yes!

Robe looks to be cresting at 5.9ft today. THE RACE IS A GO WITH FINAL CONFIRMATION 10AM AT TAKEOUT. See everyone out there and lets have a great day!
PS - Still could use an extra finish line timer. If anyone knows someone willing please give them the FYI.

Big
thanks to everyone for showing up and racing! I can't remember a nicer
day on Robe with good flows. Great job to Darren and Andrew with a
winning time and possible course record of 25mins and 41secs. Even
bigger congrats to the real winners of the race and the robe gnome Sean
and Mike. Let's see them pics this year..

I think that picture of Andrew McEwan (third one down) is maybe the ultimate classic whitewater kayaker photo. Even the sun on the water turned out perfect.

Thanks. Yes, I have more. But these are the better of the bunch. I was only able to take up two vantage points for shooting before everyone was long gone down the river. I'll rummage through the files and pick out some more. Each one is an effort in post processing so don't expect them immediately.

Perhaps as it should.
Classic Heritage. That is a nice photo and captures IT well.
Well done, Andrew! Congratulations to you and the Mighty D!
So, how was the race? Its the first I missed and I'm bummed I couldn't be there. Sure was a fabulous day.
I want to hear of some highlights and maybe see a posting of times, pretty please
Anyone else get pictures or video?
What ended up being the water level?

Tuco -
The photos are amazing. Not what we're used to seeing for whitewater shots in Washington - with the poor lighting in the canyons.
Looking forward to seeing the others.
