If the Sky drops below 3,000 and Robe is below 5 feet, what do you say we all get together again for another competitive workout on the Sky?

I'd recommend short boats (8.5 feet). But maybe we could just do both again: Short boats first, long boats last.

Who's with me?
Catch your eddies,
Christian

Forecast is not looking too favorable for much else, I'm in.
Christian, is your green boat available? I'd like to paddle it whether or not I get beaten in the short boat race.

Saturday at noon? Cable Drop to Split Rock in short boats first. Then maybe long boats next?
Other ideas?

Not calling ya out JP. Just figured you might need a little more motivation since I hadn't heard from ya yet. You're usually as fired up about this stuff as anyone.
Hope to see you out there.

It was s doozy. From cable to BD we had the hardest headwind I think I've ever paddled against and on top of that it was sleeting so hard that you had to paddle with your eyes closed for ten seconds at a time and take a quick peek to determine where the hell you were. After a bit I figured out if you closed one eye and pointed it into the wind you could look where your going with the other. Luckily by the time we got to BD the wind slowed and we were able to run BD with 70% visibility. The visibility made it about impossible to stay in the fast water, so the best strategy was to follow the person in front of you, becasue that way at least you were going to go at a similar speed.

The line will become apparent

I gotta say, though: In 16 years of running the Sky, I'm not sure I've come up with a more fun, more fulfilling and warmer way to paddle it in a snowstorm than to race with Seattle's (and Index's) finest.
Nice work to all of you for showing up and finishing in, what I can objectively say, was adverse conditions.
Catch your eddies,
Christian

Yeah, that was some pretty crazy weather. By the time we left Harms' there was 5-6" of snow on the ground; compared to the 0" and raining when we got there at 11am. And HWY 2 was so bad it took us 1hr 15min to get to Split Rock from Harms'. Lame.
