Topic: Anyone missing a squirt boat? Posted: 20 Oct 2009 at 2:08pm |
I just picked up a squirt boat in Fremont with the sign "free" on it. If you are missing a squirt boat and can describe it, it will be returned to the rightful owner (if it wasn't intended to be free.)

Martha, You might want to contact Michael Franz Horner ( franzhorner) . I know that he was trying to find a friends squirt boat in that area who passed away on the Cascade. It was an interesting story and it might belong to a friend of a friend.

Ha ha!!!
I had found the house where the boat supposedly was on Palatine. Barker's girlfriend at the time of his accident had it in a shed behind the house but left it when she moved to Cali about 5 years ago. She and I became friends years after the accident through another mutual friend even though my good friends Hunter and Anita and others had been close to Barker before I moved here. She asked me to find some use for it as it bothered her greatly that Barker's boat was being neglected. I knocked on the door several times over the course of a couple of days and never got an answer. My next attempt was a hand written letter explaining the sentimental and on-river value. I asked them to call me whether it was still there or not. I never got a call and that was about 2 or 3 weeks ago. I can't imagine someone would get that letter from me and then not call me and instead put a free sign on it and throw it in the street. My only explanation is that I didn't actually put my phone number on the note...but I'm pretty certain I remember making sure my number was on that note!!
It would be great to find out that the boat is found.

Yeah- the thing about squirt boats that most people fail to realize is ...
1) they are hand made boats. it's not just a peice of plastic. someone's heart and soul went into making it.
2) they are vintage boats. rare and often irreplaceable.

You jerk heads keep making think there is an update on the boat!!! Ha ha...just kidding about the "jerk head". Here is the description from Jennie: It's magenta/purple/dk bluish astro star sparkley glitter
colors on top of it. The rest of it was darker blue or black on the
bottom. ( this is what I recall)
I am scanning photo to email to you.
Could it be? !!!!

I just posted a couple pics of MIke and his squirt boat but they are really hard to see. I am anxiously awaiting any updates!!
Latest note from Jennie:
here are 2 photos, they aren't very good for color but you can identify
the shape of it for sure. I recall it was dark on bottom and the top
was a metallic paint of blue-magenta-purple panels.
I left it
in a black canvas boat bag and the old school wooden paddles were
inside too. There should also be Mike's "illegal" PFD that is home made
and does not float ;)
Hope some of these "descriptions" help identify the boat.
I'm trying not to get my hopes up but how many squirt boats can there be in Fremont...? ! As promised, I would be so GRATEFUL if you would keep it forever close to you when you find it again !!!!

Well, that's not a very mushy apology for taking a swipe at me James. I accept, although you did throw me for a loop. There are plenty of people who think I am a dope, so I'm used to it.

Hot dang, I just got connected with someone that might have a squirt boat for my big feet. Leland we should probably screw around in a new thread. I figure all our posts will create too much down time / change of direction for the real topic at hand.
Plus we don't want to make Franz mad, he might turn Jedi and double scoop us a black attack since were acting like one armed bandits in his thread.

Man you guys have really "screwed up" my head. All of this talking is making it feel like it's in the "squeeze". Why don't you get out on the water and get some "hammer toes" for yourself.
