Dan, it looks like you voted for memorial day. Am I allowed to point that out? This ain't no secret ballet is it? I don't want Dan feelin "Disenfranchised".
I voted for June only cuz it had the most votes.

No!
I'm voting for the weekend before memorial day. Like the past couple of years.
I think that weekend works best with paddling and family plans.

Gonna have to put my vote in for Memorial weekend. The weekend before I'm gigging in Moses Lake (first inboard hydro race of the season, gotta go hang with my raceboat buds) and the first weekend of June I'll be on tour (currently scheduled to be playing in Reno that weekend, getting my fill of their most excellent man-made surfin' spot!).

Second weekend in June is the best. Warm weather and no holidays in sight. Should be perfect.

I'll be a little busy being a new dad come the beginning of May, but I'd like to help if there is need. I drink and play well with others..

Congrats Brian! I had my first Daughter last April so during the Ball it was a new born experience. Have a blast during those first couple months... My daughter is a ball of energy that either is sleeping or keeping us on our toes, Zero cuddle in this gal, so we miss those first months when we were able to hold her and just sit with her. Nothing like parenthood though, so congrats!

Thanks James, and a belated congratulations to you! Hopefully my wife can be convinced to have the baby long enough before the ball that we can go. I'd hate to commit to something and have to bail last minute, but as it gets closer I'll try to stay in the loop and help however possible.

The water is usually higher the weekend before memorial. Memorial weekend is always a low turn out since a lot of people take road trips. The weekend after puts a hurting on set up since the ramp needs to go up the weekend before and that means getting people to help on memorial (not likely). I think the best options considering how memorial affects things is the weekend before or 2 weeks after so that the week after would be set up.

Maybe we could set the ramp up the weekend before memorial day weekend?

That really depends on the snow melt and expected water levels. We almost lost it the first year because the water came up so much during the week. Hard to make that call until last minute, I would hesitate to base the date on that. Plus I think the weekend after memorial everyone will be pretty burnt out from the long drives/trips. When if at all are they doing the wenatchee river fest? I know its a different crowd but best not to compete.

Wenatchee River Fest is the second weekend in June (the 9th and 10th this year). I think it would be bad idea to do the two events the same weekend. Its been nice having the two events a couple weeks apart. That is what I'm in favor of.

Actually, it would be awsome to have both at the same time! Kayakers would take over the town and there would be stuff to do everwhere.
Thats a great idea Darren!

I am just going out on a limb here but I think Cashmere already might feel taken over by kayakers during the peak season... Regardless I might be missing something but your suggesting the opposite of what Darren is...

What Darren said. Keep the events on two seperate weekends so they aren't diverting from each other. Two kickass party weekends is better than one diffuse one with factions. If they land on the same weekend I'll be hanging with the Riverfest. I get to see lots of folks I barely see the rest of the year. Love you guys, but I don't want to have to choose between two events on the same weekend.
Besides- Professor Paddle should support Riverfest, not the other way around. Riverfest is longer standing tradition, and Wenatchee Season could use two events.

Actually, i just found out, there will be no wenanchee river fest this year. All the people heading that have decided not to host it this year. Unless there is someone else doing it. The regular hosts will be on the Grand canyon during that time. I have inside info from Sydney.

Well in that case, here is the perfect opportunity for PP to get the second weekend in June. Much better chance for nice weather.

One thing I've always preferred about the PP Ball is the timing with peak flows making all the great playboating features the Wenatchee is known for prime. And I love the Wenatchee Fest cuz I get to see a great cross section of paddlers, rowers, boofers and boarders I usually don't see the rest of the year. Plus, Tom O'keefe is there. It is a tradition. And I get to sell beer. And the ramp is a tradition for the PP Ball.

Well, we're starting a New Tradition This Year, in honor of the fabulous whitewater film "A Glorious Way To Die":
We're all gettin NAKED and whipping each other's asses with Eucalyptus branches. Travisimo already found some on EBAY.
So I don't really care when we have it.
We're also going to need a guitar, some clear plastic, and LOTS of Vodka!
