WHAT UP! I just joined Professor Paddle. This is great because trying to find paddlers in Seattle is a pain in the ass. I'm hoping to meet some paddlers asap and hit the rivers. It's been awhile since I've been out because my boats have been in Idaho, but I just picked them up last week. I'm originally from Twin Falls, Idaho and I guess you could say that the Murtaugh stretch of the Snake River is my home stretch of river. Many hours spent and miles traveled on that stretch of river and others around Twin Falls and Horseshoe Bend near Boise, Idaho.
Currently I live in downtown Seattle. My availability is the weekends. Since I'm just now getting back into the game I'm willing to run class III no problems and more-then-likely class IV after a few warm ups. Class V will be a little later down the road, like a month or so of good solid lines. Possibly sooner, but just trying to be wise and not freak my wife out (or me).
Another note: I've got a Canon 7d and I'm willing to take documentary photos of trips.
Hit me up people. I'm excited to make friends and rip it up on the river.

Welcome! More people will chime in soon, but I can add a few rivers to your list. For class III, look for trips on the Middle Middle (middle section of the middle fork snoqualmie), the Green River Gorge (lower class IIIish and the upper is class III-IV), the Skykomish (class III with one solid IV). There are plenty more out there but those are a few of the close ones that get run a lot.
There is a large number of weekend boaters to hook up with, just keep your eyes open.

every post puts the topic at the top, so... If you post closer to the weekend it pops it to the top. I'm too new and wouldn't be a good guide to any river for you.. but, I'm confident you'll find a load of boaters that are headed out. Welcome to the area!
why not!

Just keep sharp things out of Thad's hands and he'll do just fine!

I run the Middle fork Snoqualmi and the Upper Green a lot. They are close and in your range of class. I'll take anyone down so feel free to pm me when they are in.

cool. I guess they are not in yet? I'm hoping to go out this weekend. I'd like to try the middle Sky - I think that's what it's called. My play boat is out of commission for the moment because my seat back brace broke but I have a larger volume boat that will do just fine until repairs can be made.

@ mark lol,   I was so happy with not having you guys see the bottom of my boat more than the top I'd forgotten about that slick move.
Osmelendez... Sounds good. I think I've made my last 7 river rolls.. Now if I can stop needing so many I'll be in good shape. :)

They are low right now, but dont need much to be good. The Sky is at a good level.

sweet. let me know when you go out. I may even have to put off paddling this weekend so that I can get me play boat in operational order. The only boat shop that I know of is in Redmond.

Ah yes- Aquasports in Redmond: as fine a shop as can be found in the PNW- welcome, BTW, to the best place in the United States to boat year round. Snow is melting this week, and this will turn on and off for the next month or so, augmented by any heavy rains that can still periodicly roll through. Now that sunset is around 8pm, lots of local afterwork boating options exist, and as everyone pointed out, you can count on the Sky, M&M, and Green to be your local staples out of Seattle year round (more or less- the Sky is ALWAYS running).

The Green is more sporadic due to Howard Hansen dam, but should be running more frequently in these spring weeks to come.

Wenatchee season is right around the corner, and an easy drive from Seattle for a weekend of playboating. Once you got your class IV game sharpened up again, be sure to take HWY 2 over to the Wenatchee and hit up the Rapid and the Foss (w/ creekboat) on the way during peak runoff. Peshastin Creek is a good class III+/IV- trib of the Wenatchee, and you want an extra mile of action you can tack on Ingalls Creek (a respectable if short mile or so of IV).

Anyway, if you are an avid paddler there's really no way to get bored round here. When you are ready to blur the line between IV and V hit up the Cooper and Fall In The Wall. You can walk away from both of those runs feeling like you ran class IV if nothing goes wrong, but the oldschool ratings in the guidebook list them both as V. Now a days, it depends who you ask.

All this is in our online database, so check it out if you are bored at night during the week and jonesing. Its not perfect but it is fairly extensive for beta, all generated by PPeeps on the site here.

Syotr, dude, sooner or later...

I will be hitting up Bob's Hole on the Clakimus on Thursday afternoon if anyone is around and wants to fire up the rest of the run with me. If your in Oregon it's a fun class III-IV run.

Once again folks, I'm stoked to be getting feedback. I'm looking forward to meeting some of you. I have a Ford pickup truck, room for four, and a lovely wife thats willing to help with food and shuttles. I didn't even have to talk her into it!

I'm just kiddin, man. Well, kinda- but the post was entirely for comic effect, even though this post kind of neutrilizes it.
