According to this the release will be at 'rafting' flows by labor day weekend. I read somewhere that they started holding back water very early, so they were able to mitigate some of the water issues. According to that page they are at 69% of average for the entire system.
Long story short, I'd wager the Tieton season will be pretty similar to last year. It's worth reading the page because they will indicate what the flows will be set at. It seems like the 2nd / 3rd weekend in Sept are the highest flows, and the Tieton seems to be better the higher it gets.

According to that, it may be a go this weekend?? Low but better than the Sky
"Expect flows in the Tieton to be in the 800 to 1000cfs range going in
to the weekend. Expect good rafting flows for the Labour Day weekend."

Is the water actually going to flow? Did it not flow over labor day? I'm confused.

Yes the Tieton flowed over Labor Day. I assume it will also be in this coming weekend. And the next! Lots of boaters down there. And climbers.

I plan on rolling in there around 10am on Saturday, just only for the day though. Probabaly stop at the top and look for a shuttle then work my way down. Going over alone so far.

The link on the main page has not been updating. The flow is currently around 1,300. Click on the forecast link and find the tieton on the List of irrigation flows. Today they posted that peak flows would occur this coming weekend. There were a ton of ppl out there last weekend. Good flow for rafting and kayaking. Be careful for both new and old wood. Nothing too sketchy, but look out.

The weather data says high 90s air temps in Yakima....does this release typically have warm water or freezing cold?

Wore a 3mm wetsuit top and shorts down it last weekend and it was 70* and fine. If its 90 youll be toasty.

The Naches forecast says 90 on Saturday and 80 on Sunday. It is a bottom-release dam, so the water is cold.

i'm heading over there from Seattle-- I've got to do something in Ellensburg in the early AM, so I'll probably be there around 10:30 or 11. Anyone else going to be there around then? trying to figure out shuttle.
also, how good's the wave at this level?

sounds good dave. i will be in a black SUV and coming in around 1030-11, depending on how long things take in Ellensburg. I'll look for you there, I haven't been there in something like 7 years, so I'll do my best to find you there.
