Maybe I'm wrong and this isn't the case but it sure seems like people don't post trips anymore.  Is this really the case?

I've posted a few over the past year or so, but I've mostly poached other people's trips, so I know some are being posted.

Still, it would be great to see more posted more frequently. However, I can understand just wanting to invite a few select friends and running how you want to run. Some of us want to race down the river and others of us want to catch every eddy and take long lunches. I guess that element of what the trip organizer has in mind could be part of the trip announcement.

For me, the Add a Trip feature has been great, even though I've messed up the date a few times or goofed in other ways that have nothing to do with the interface and everything to do with being distracted.

Post up a trip and let's build some momentum.

When I first moved to the NW and found this site I was more likely to post trips because I didn't know anyone and needed a way to get on the river.  But now that I have a phone chain of people that I typically like to paddle with I'm less likely to post a trip.  I've met some great folks on the internet (here and elsewhere), but I've also been on the river with folks that scared the crap out of me (skill and personal habits), and open invitations on the internet allow anyone to show up and expect a shuttle.  Of course that is to be expected when posting on the internet, but now that I'm running harder stuff limiting the X-factor is a good cautionary.

Like I said this has been a great resource for me to get involved in the boating community and continues to be, but now in a different respect.  Also people post trips in the forum more often rather than do a formal trip on the trip planner.

I understand you logic Jed. The problem is that people who are currenty in the position you used to be on will find it harder to find people to boat with. I just think that this site was a good way to grow/ enhance the paddling community and want to keep it that way. I'm not suggesting that people should post a trip every time they head out, just post trip more often.

Yeah, I've almost never posted a trip. For a whole slew of reasons. I will try to post some more soon.

Yeah, Duane that's probably a good idea to specify such things as the pace you expect to run the trip as "Trip Leader".

I'll try to post some more trips- maybe some FITWah trips soon...
