Not sure if I'll be able to make it or not - but it sounds good. Time/place?

ya think? it's low as sh*t now. But it looks like there will be some flucutations this weekend. The lowlands may be a good place to target, due to the cold front coming in.

The level's definitely too low now but the graph is going up fast. With luck it'll be runnable tomorrow. I like it close to 2,000, but am willing to make the trip at a lower level. Let's watch rainfall patterns and make the call tonight or tomorrow.

If it keeps coming up a bit, I'd be game. Love me some Tilton.

Jaybe, time and place are to be determined, but given the ground we'll need to cover we need to get out of town by 8 at the latest. It's a long shuttle and a bad river to run in the dark.

Agreed.... or without beer. It's a long paddle out.

Yeah, I saw that. I don't think it's worth going down for much below 1500. Let's see what the morning brings. Check this space for updates.

At normal flows take the playboat. I'm the wrong guy to suggest an upper limit for a playboat.
Anyone down Olympia way have any input?

as things get bigger (3700+) you might want a creekboat. the drops at that flow just kinda run together, but the moves are easier because the drops wash out to big waves and stuff. there are huge boils and eddylines that could catch you if your not paying attention. I've run it up to 4000 and at that flow I took a creekboat, but if I did it again I'd be in the playboat. it goes up to around 5-6 thousand.

I wouldn't bother boating it over 2k. It's washed and not that great. I paddled it in my creekboat at 27k and it sucked, wished I'd had my playboat. Toutle is a good alternative.

Weather fail!
Not much came up last night. It's barely above 1000. I'm going back to bed.

I think you are missing out. I was there last Sunday at 900 and the play hole was awesome. There was a crew from Portland I'd hitched on with and folks were throwing cartwheels, splitwheels and loops all day long. Even the people in creek boats were having fun in the hole... The rapids are pretty easy at that level but still fun. Certainly a play boat run. Way better play than the Sky or MM or the regular stuff up Seattle way.

And we put on at 1:30 and got out in time, although I'd suggest a much earlier start so you could spend more time at the play hole.

Last but not least: Paddling the last 20 minutes out in the dark isn't much of an issue as it's a lake. You would want daylight on the last rapid though as it's long and manky. The big issue is getting the cars out of Ike Kinswa Park before they lock the gates at dark.

I second Kyle K. Adam and I ran it at just over 800 and it was awesome! So much play! And the drops were quality in a playboat, a little low, but quality. Not to mention, Upper Upper Cispus is lurking just down the road...

I want to hear about the 27,000 cfs run.
I bet it would go at that flow, there wouldn't really be any rapids, just MASSIVE boils and exploding waves out of nowhere.
